The financially strapped City of Central Falls, RI, made history today as the first Rhode Island city to be listed for sale on eBay. The nearly bankrupt city is in the hands of a receiver and the no reserve eBay auction may put as much as $175 back into the troubled city’s pockets.
Central Falls closed its library on July 1 because of severe financial trouble. The city is being run by a state receiver and is on the brink of bankruptcy. And that isn’t the worst of it. If the city should go bankrupt, all 3 books will be sold at public auction.
